The true Southwest awaits you in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Come immerse yourself in rich culture and heritage, rooted in centuries of history.  The oldest city in the US will always make you feel that you are somewhere special.  From the historic plaza that will treat you to both 18th century beauty to affordable shopping, you will enjoy the endless blue skies and sun that shines 310 days a year- perfect for outdoor activities.  Breathe in the high desert air scented with sage and piñon, and you will understand why Albuquerque, NM is a destination like no other.

Considered the second least expensive vacation spot according to 2008 AAA, the modern city skyline against the backdrop of the ancient Sandia Mountains combined with your colleagues at the National RC&D conference will provide you with an experience that you will always remember.

Merging a true educational experience with time for networking, enjoying arts and culture, local cuisine, golf courses, spas, a trip to the Acoma Pueblo (”Sky City”) , Santa Fe, or a trip to Sandia Peak via the aerial tramway will make a lasting impression.

Be sure to complete your reservation now.  Final planning is underway to make this one of the best conferences you will ever experience.

Welcome to information for and about the National Conference.

Because sponsorships for the Conference are an important factor in keeping the cost down for all participants, the National Board has initiated a way to thank Councils directly for their efforts on the behalf of all Council Members.  Therefore:

The National Board voted to include an incentive and reward for Councils to solicit exhibitors and sponsors.  For each $4,500 a council secures, the Council receives one full complimentary registration.  For each $10,000, a complimentary exhibit booth is included.

Review the potential sponsors in your area.  Because the National Conference can directly improve life in your community, this sponsorship is an easy appeal.  If you need help on how to approach sponsors, please contact our office.

Please note that the two hotels are adjacent to the conference center, which offers internet connection and open lounges for conference members to utilize.  This is the prime location.  Remember that there are a very limited number of government rate rooms available.

To improve success story presentations and the quality of training, some of the success stories this year will be directly incorporated into individual training programs.  The categories are listed on the “Call for Success Stories” page.  The deadline is November 15, 2008.  We know the new training format will make all trainings much more relevant and are very excited to pair training with real life experiences.

Please be sure to look at the draft agenda to give you a sense of conference scheduling.

Albuquerque is a great conference site.  It is ideal for a good meeting and great for a total family vacation.  Both adults and children will find wholesome adventures and amusements.  Future monthly mailings will include information on things to see and do in Albuquerque.  So mark your calendars and start your planning.

Looking forward to seeing you in Albuquerque.
